HOW TO CROP YOUR SWEATSHIRT
- Measure & Mark:
- Try on the sweatshirt and decide where you want it cropped (waist-length, just above the belly button, etc.).
- Use a measuring tape or ruler to mark that length all around the sweatshirt. You can use chalk or a fabric marker to create an even cutting line.
- Cut the Sweatshirt:
- Lay the sweatshirt on a flat surface.
- Starting from the bottom, use scissors to cut along the line you marked. Cut slowly and carefully to keep the line as straight as possible.
- If you want a raw, frayed edge, you can leave it as is. The cotton will naturally roll or fray over time when you pull both ends and look like mine.
- Optional Hem (for a clean finish):
- If you want a more polished look, fold the bottom edge of the sweatshirt over by about half an inch and pin it in place and sew it by machine
- Personalize (Optional):
- Add embellishments like patches, iron-ons, or embroidery to make your sweatshirt unique. You can also distress it a bit more by cutting the arms or neckline.
And you’re done! You now have a chic DIY cropped cotton sweatshirt that’s perfect for pairing with high-waisted jeans, shorts or skirts.
